Matthew Hodgman

Ph.D. Student

Matt’s passion for improving patients’ lives and his deep interest in emerging technologies led him to his now 3rd year of doctoral training with Dr. Najarian in the Department of Computational Medicine and Bioinformatics. Matt’s dissertation work focuses on using high-dimensional, longitudinal biomedical data to develop explainable AI/ML methods for clinical decision support systems. These AI/ML methods enable novel risk factor identification, early diagnosis, medical image information extraction, computational disease phenotyping, and optimized dosing of drug infusions. Matt’s interests extend far beyond the lab to spending time with his wife Kaity, gravel biking, snowboarding, and art.
