Michael D. Maile

Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology

Michael D. Maile, M.D., M.S. is an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of Michigan and an Associate Director of the Michigan Center for Integrative Research in Critical Care. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Michigan State University and a Medical Degree from Penn State University. He completed his training in Anesthesiology followed by Critical Care Medicine at the University of Michigan. At the University of Michigan he went on to receive a Master of Science in Clinical Research Design & Statistical Analysis. Dr. Maile currently works as a clinician for surgical patients and those in suffering from critical illness. His research focuses on the heart’s response to the acute physiologic stress that accompanies conditions such as sepsis, major surgery, or trauma. He has developed the Critical Illness Biobank which collects and analyzes biospecimens contributed by patients who generously donate samples to improve the care of future patients through research.
